A SHORT SUMMARY OF MY HEALTHI JOURNEY

I joined Weight Watchers online in about September 2007, weighing 224 lbs. I did that for a few months but didn't achieve much and I quit. In April of 2008, my husband and I joined Weight Watchers and started going to meetings. I weighed 207.4 lbs. I was a very slow loser, often only losing .2 lbs. a week or less. I month later I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and put on medications. With diet changes and exercise my blood sugars dropped and after 18 months I was taken off diabetes meds. I have been able to keep my blood sugars under control since. I finally reached a doctor-set goal weight of 143 lbs. in October of 2012. I was able to maintain close to my goal weight for several years. Then life happened and I gained back fifty pounds. In 2019, my husband and I left Weight Watchers and joined Healthi (itrackbites at the time). We chose the Better Balance plan because it was similar to the Weight Watchers plan. After a while, I found my weight loss stagnated. With the advice of Head Coach Lisa and a private coach, we switched to Carb Conscious, which is the old Weight Watcher's Points Plus plan and the plan I lost most of my weight on. A year and a half ago, I was diagnosed with breast cancer and had surgery and radiation. While I was still undergoing radiation therapy, my husband passed away suddenly. For a while I was having a really hard time eating, I just didn't have any appetite. Since then my appetite has returned to normal. I think, I am reaching the point where my body is saying this is where my weight should be, as I keep bobbing up and down the same 2 or 3 lbs. I may just accept that 150 lbs. is my new goal weight.

A fun Fact About Myself

I used to be a custom dressmaker, specializing in wedding gowns. Then when I was 40 years old, I went back to school and got a nursing degree and worked in home health care for 27 years, until I retired in January 2023.
