Thinking about the Long Term- How to Achieve Sustainable Success

Hi all, Coach Jeri here! Happy Monday!

We all want to be successful in everything we set out to do. So many of us feel we are successful in business and school, but yet, personally we struggle. I believe that if we use the same formula in our personal life as we do in our professional life we would see the same results. More specifically in our weight loss journey! One of the easiest ways to get started is to have a realistic goal in a reasonable time frame. Let your mind be open to new ideas. Again, these ideas apply to our relationship with weight loss too! Here are some ways that I like think about sustainable success in weight loss.

Most of us think a weight loss plan is deprivation.

Deprivation leads to feeling sorry for yourself (and off you go to a bag of chips). What I love about the Healthi community is all the suggestions to lighten up foods, along with the meal plans. I love when members post pictures of their “food finds” and new recipes they tried. So many ways to lighten up our favorite foods. I actually eat french toast for 3 bites on carb conscience! Even making a cake with a can of pumpkin or diet soda are ways to have your cake and eat it too! And how I love my air fryer! Be willing to try new things. No reason to eat the same thing day after day.

Focus on your ability to see that there is more than one way to have success.

In other words- be intentional about what you consider “success”. There is a very important difference between reckless goals and realistic goals. Although some people will have success on one weight loss plan, you may do better on another. Successful people have the ability to be tolerant and flexible. Search out other successful people and let their success rub off on you.

Let go of your old ways.

If they worked you would not have to start over. Be proud of the success you do have. It’s not a race. Most successes are a series of little daily victories and small successes lead to a big one over time. When you feel like you’re not making progress, take a close look at all the little victories and achievements you have made on your journey so far. The power of a positive thought that you can make small changes in your eating habits can be put into action.

If a plan is not livable long term find the one that is.

I never thought I would be able to go through a summer without ice cream. Now I can though, because, there are so many alternative frozen treats low in BITES for me to choose from. I have to say I dont miss it anymore. Successful people dont blame others and come up with excuses for failure. They have the ability to get up and keep trying. Moving forward, proud of the three steps forward, not the one step back.

Be willing to apply your positive outlook into every small victory and concentrate on long term success and you will get to goal and stay there. We all will have bumps in the road just keep climbing over them!

Happy tracking!
